Noooooooo!
I opened Chrome today, which defaults to Google Search when I open it, and saw this message in the bottom corner
Background images are going away on November 16, 2012Thank you for using background images. As we build a more streamlined Google Search page for everyone, we’ll no longer be able to support customization with background images. So you will no longer be able to see your background pictures starting November 16, 2012.
How sad, I’ve had my WoW background image for as long as I can remember. I thought it was cute and unique, although it turned heads when I logged into my Google account at work; that wasn’t a good thing considering my job had “No Warcraft Conversations” posted all over the cubicles. Not lying, my job did. But so many people played WoW, including the supervisors, that it was getting on peoples’ nerves. Pfft. I mean it was IT support; what did they expect when they have a call center full of nerds?
But anyways yeah Google background images are going away and now I guess I will be forced to look at the new Google interface they will be implementing. It says they are going to make the new Google Search page more streamlined, but how much more streamlined can you make a blank page with Google and a search box on it? That’s about as streamlined as you’re going to get. Somehow I doubt it’s a new interface at all but a new page that will be splattered with ads. If that does turn out to be the case, I’ll have to find me a new home page which I haven’t had in eons. Maybe hopefully they’ll make it, or some developer, an addon for Google Chrome because I really loved my Google home page. Bye Sylvannas, Lor’themar, Genn, Gelbin, Muradin & Varian; we had some good times. 🙁
